Reimbursement Rate Differential

Incorporation of a rate differential for use of certified interpreters would,

1. Reinforce the functional equivalency of the service by encouraging providers to use, and continue to use, certified interpreters as they consider measures to reduce costs.

2. Acknowledge the importance of the qualifications and contribution of the sign language interpreters delivering the service.

3. Continue to offer users of VRS and important differentiator when comparing and choosing a provider.
